Hooligan Watch

So what's going to be the big story of this year's World Cup? Is it going to be Theo Walcott's last minute winner against Sweden to put us through to the last round? Nah, I doubt it. It'll be a story about how English fan's are hooligans and symtematic of British society. Blah Blah.

Every four years the press love this sort of thing. They sit there behind their multiple screens waiting, itching for a riot. They criticise the nation for being voyeurs and crash-tv addicts but these guys are the one's that peddle it. If they didn't peddle it, I'm sure there would be fewer people part-taking in the activity. So you "media" types - focus on the really issues of the World Cup - dodgy ref's and over-priced tickets.

By Train Travel

Rail Europe - You can get unlimited travel in Europe or you Can get a "Germany and Benelux Pass" that allows you up to 10 unlimited days travel in two months. This one costs $374 (£207 ish)
You can get a one month pass for $ 946 (£525 ish) but there are many other cheaper options on the Rail Europe site.
Eurostar - Get a connection from either Brussels, Paris or Lille.

Campsites

You may also need Cheap Ferries so try Cheap4Ferries

Camping at motorway service stations is allowed for up to 24hrs.

Most campsites accept the Camping Card International (CCI). For a good range of campsites for the World Cup in Germany we think Canvas is a good idea.

In Germany it is common practice for campsites to close for a midday rest period (Mittagsruhe).

The German Camping Club's contact details are:Geisbergstrasse 11, Sch erg, 10777 (218 6071/ 72/213 4416). Open 10.30am-6pm Mon; 8am-4pm Wed; 8am-1pm Fri.

Most of the campsites are a fair way out of town so check the buss timetables. For tents, expect to pay around

€3.75 rent for up to four square metres; for caravans €6.45; plus €4.95 per person and children aged 6-14

€2.30 per night.
